Abstract

Considering the biopsychosocial benefits derived from human/nature interaction, we ask how Biophilia Theory has been inserted in palliative care. We aim to map, the historical and scientific conception of the subject through an integrative review and to attest to the contemplation of the principles of palliative care. In 1928 scientific texts, 71 covered the theme being possible to identify at least one of the nine principles, emphasizing integration with psychological and spiritual aspects. The biofilia was applied mainly to the emotional and the zooterapia to the relational aspect, however in the face of the limitations imposed to the attendance of aspects of biosafety and dependence of the volunteer, we suggested the insertion of the therapeutic horticulture in hostels and the visit of the pet.
