Abstract

Currently, videos are an important tool for disseminating health information. Objective: to evaluate the effects of an intervention with videos based on the Food Guide and the assumptions of Health Literacy on the weight status and food consumption markers of overweight individuals treated at Primary Health Care Units. Method: the videos were used as an educational tool in the intervention group, which received biweekly telephone contact from the health professional and access to the videos produced. Results: After 30 days, there was no difference in the weight of the groups, but the intervention group showed a significant reduction in the number of people who ate their meals in front of screens, a reduction in the number of people who ate only two meals a day, and a reduction in the number of people who consumed sweetened beverages the day before.
