The editorial of the first regular issue of Saúde em Debate of 2020 opens the journal with the title “Lockdown or participatory health surveillance? Lessons from the Covid-19”. It brings contributions to understand the world of public health at the critical moment of the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic. The Brazilian Center for Health Studies (Cebes) has guided its action of studies and translational scientific exchange between the health, economics, law, and popular education sectors, among others, with the interface formalized in the forums of institutions created to fight for health and life.
